Spark is the world's first co-pilot to help you disciple followers of Jesus. Spark furthers your discipleship relationships by giving you the structure and skills to facilitate Christ-centered connection, conversation, and transformation. As a result, your discipleship relationships can grow deeper more effectively and with lasting impact.
What is the story of Spark?
Did you know that there are around 60 million Christians in the US who feel unprepared to disciple others?
That statistic didn’t sit well with Matt Hui and Jason Carrillo, the founders of Spark. Together, they conducted over 50 hours of interviews with Christians and pastors to understand the root causes. They identified three main issues:
The lack of confidence and structure for facilitating transformative discussions
The complexity of accountability
The difficulty of tracking growth and progress in discipleship relationships
Their goal is to build a tool to help bring a solution that’s local and scalable to help build and strengthen God's kingdom.

What's one challenge that you overcame when working on Spark?
Talking to our customers/end users and advisors. Speaking with people who you are trying to serve reminds you why you are doing this all in the first place and seeking guidance from those who have been on the journey keeps you on the "narrow" path.
Where have you seen God's hand and provision?
Connecting me to my current partner-in-crime, Jason. A mutual friend at our church connected us and we both share the same heart for discipleship, cultural values and complementary skills (he's a much better coder than me :) )
What advice would you give to someone who's wanting to build an app or tool for Christians?
As one of my mentors/advisors told me, seek the Lord on whether He wants you to build this and get to a place of indifference before deciding.
Psalm 127:1 summarizes this well: "Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain."
Shameless plug!
Q: What's something cool that's been on your mind that you'd recommend to the faith.tools community?
A book that has helped me grow my intimacy with God is: "A Shepherd's Take at Psalm 23".
Tools that have accelerated our progress in the startup phase:
Website analytics: Fathom Analytics
Deck builder: Tome.app
Website builder: Softr.io
